My Teaching Method

  • Breathe

The breath always comes first, there is no yoga practice without learning to breathe. Access to the mind and learning is dependent on being able to focus on bringing our breath under control. The breath is the key to a calm mind capable of clear thought & good decision making.

  • Move

Once we are clear and calm then we take action, we will have the ability to connect to our body and our environment moving consciously with grace and control. Becoming strong yet light, so we can have the freedom to live our lives well in this world, without feeling limited by our body, eliminating pain and sickness, we systematically and intelligently move thru asana.

  • Be Joyful

With greater freedom and understanding comes greater responsibility, once our cup is full, helping others becomes a joy, being grateful for our existence and everything this universe has to offer happens automatically. I encourage reading of philosophical yoga text and the expansion of the mind as part of the yoga process of finding purpose and joy.

  • Spread Kindness

True happiness, like useful knowledge, needs to be shared, this yoga practice may start with a desire for a better life, however we also practice for the benefit for all around us and this world we live in. Spreading kindness comes in many forms, by helping the less fortunate, by communicating love to those around us, or by passing the yoga that helped us on to others. I encourage truth and authenticity in all my students for meaningful connections and healthy relationships. When dedicated students are ready I turn them into quality teachers of the traditional Ashtanga lineage.
